My mom and dad, Kathy and Ray, came up to visit Sue and I last weekend. We took them to the Franklin Park Conservatory to see Chapungu: Stories in Stone.

Franklin Park Conservatory presents an evocative, contemporary sculpture exhibition that will tell the stories of African life while expressing universal themes of birth, death, family roles, wishes, prayers, love, the role of elders, children and generational traditions. Over fifty sculptures will be intermingled with the lush plant life of the Conservatory.

Chapungu at Franklin Park Conservatory features more than 50 hand-carved, stone sculptures as well as the artists themselves…

This is the first time these works of art have been collectively displayed in the United States. The sculptures from the Chapungu Sculpture Park in Zimbabwe, Africa, will range in height from 3 to 11 feet and weigh from 600 to 2,600 pounds. These passionate sculptures have met acclaim wherever they have traveled - including Kew Gardens in London, Musée Rodin in Paris, museums in Holland, Germany, Australia, Great Britain and more.

Link to pictures of course.

Sue got to go on a behind the cage tour at the Columbus Zoo. Julia, the bad pun spouting work friend of Sue, set the tour up though her husband who works at the zoo with the pachyderms. They visited the animals that Jack Hanna takes on shows in the afternoon and at night got to visit the pachyderms. Sue even got to feed a rhino a cookie.

washing the dog or listening to king bushie ii

Instead of sitting though an hour of Bush speak like Sue did. (Though without cable I’m guessing there was nothing else on except UPN) I put myself to doing some thing way more productive, I washed the dog. How fun. I then dried her with a hair dryer. I’m sure she now feels like a show dog. Oh well.

jet eyes

Sleep shmeep, looks like someone is no dozing with Jet Eyes looking back at you. Ah fondly I remember in the bleak Febuar when I too had chemistry breathing down my neck.
