flying home

27 07 2005

I flew home today and left the Cready’s, including my wife, at the resort.
Because we did not want to be in Albany at 5:30 in the morning my connecting flight was trough Atlanta. Not the most direct route, but one that did not involve anyone leaving the resort extra early in the morning, and I did manage to get the exit rows on both legs of the journey.

There will be no more resort posts until next week when Sue brings back the camera and laptop. I get to spend the rest of the week all by myself, but I get the dog back tomorrow which should make the house seem less empty.

Sue and the gang went to Woodstock, NY today and she bought lots of stuff. That’s what I get for leaving her all alone when shopping…

soyuzivka day 2

25 07 2005

We woke up, went to church…in which no English was spoken. The preacher was very emphatic though. We then ate some Ukie food at a picnic held at the church.

We then came back and went to the pool…So some back story here. For about the last week various things have made me break out in little patches of hives, cloths with some detergent, paper at work. They all happened with some contact and were gone in about 20 minutes after the contact was removed. So any way, after lying in the sun for a little while we went in the pool. After relaxing in the pool for about 20 minutes my hands started to hurt. So I decided to get out. Most of my body was now covered in hives. They did not hurt per say, but my fingers had swollen and felt like big sausages.

So I relented to Sue’s persistence and we decided to go to the Ellenville hospital.

So any way, by the time we saw anyone the hives were gone and we got the following diagnosis, “You are allergic to the pool.” So after an hour at the hospital we were given the prescription to stay out of the pool, and take some benadryl.

We got back to the resort and I slept until morning, with a slight interruption to go down for dinner. I ate a few spoons of chicken noodle soup and trudged back to the room.

The rest of the Cready’s relaxed in the room and played Five Crowns until they went to bed.

Sue and I are headed to Soyuzivka for the next few days. Sue will be gone a week and I will be gone until Wednesday. If I can get a internet connection I will upload what will probably be thousands of photos from the Cready’s yearly trek to the Catskill Mountains. This will be Sue’s family’s 25 consecutive year of vacationing at Suzi-Q, and sadly will be the first without Vera. Wish us luck.
