Vacation Day 0.5

31 07 2007

Well back home with reliable internets, so here is the start of the vacation blog.

Two Fridays ago, (wow it really flew by) Sue stayed home to finish packing and I dropped baby off and went to work. I was going to stay until around 2, but around 11, Sue called and said that the washing machine had broken with her last pre-vaca load. So I went home to mop up the basement and had wash the last load. Then we got Ewan to take a nap at home and finished packing.

We left for the airport with plenty of time to not have to rush to much, thought I was stressed as always about getting ready for vacation, so I was my normal pre-trip ass-hole-self. We had even more time as, the computers were down at Skybus in the morning and everything was flying an hour late. Ewan did not do to bad on his first flight, and we met Grandpa Ron at the airport in Chicopee, MA and drove to Sue’s Aunt Maryann’s house.

We dropped off Ewan, and Sue, Christine and I drove to Enfield, CN to the Barnes and Noble to pick up Harry Potter VII. Luckly for us, Ron had stood in line from 4:30 until 6 to get the bracelet and ticket so we were among the first 50 to get a book and were were back at the house by 1:00.

So here are the pictures… Link

Vacation

27 07 2007

We switched rooms this year, so no internets in the room, oh well. So this will probably be the only update from Soyuzivka.

Everything is well, hiking, swimming and eating. Good times.

Here is one of the panoramic pictures of the view on Tuesday.

Last Week.

16 07 2007

What a long week that was our last one.

On Tuesday, Sue’s dad came down to trade us his dog for our cloths and junk for vacation next week, as he is driving and we are flying Skybus, where the first 2 carry-ons are 5 bucks and the third 20 we decided it was best to send our giant suitcases with him. We went out to eat and then ditched the baby with Ron and Cathy. Sue, Chris and I then went to the 12:01 showing of Harry Potter V. Its always good times when you are in the company of people dorkier then yourself.

Wednesday was softball. We lost, but are still tied for first place and have the tiebreaker.

On Thursday we one grandparent for another: Ron left in the morning and my mom came in the afternoon. She watched Ewan while we played volleyball. We won 2-1, and are crossing our fingers that some other team lost all three so we can get into the playoffs next week.

Friday was a normal day, except that my mom made dinner.

Saturday we took my mom out to dinner at Aladdin’s then on to the North Market for the Ohio Wine Festival. A couple of words on the wine fest. Don’t take a baby during his normal nap time and it was hot and very crowded. But other than that we had a merry ol’ time.

Sunday we did not do much but sit around and then we went to the pool. It was pretty clowdey until just as we were leaving, but it was getting late and the boy does get angry if he is not eating by 7 so we had to go anyway.

Visiting the Palmers (Baughmans)

9 07 2007

We went to the Palmer’s house for Ruth’s 50th birthday party and to see Lena, Karl and Sarah.  The kids were cute playing together.  They did some dancing as seen on the video from the post before.  Ewan enjoyed playing with the bolos from the Bolo Toss aka Ladder Golf aka Redneck Golf game.  Lena walked around with her purse and phone.  The adults tried to keep the kids safe from the errant tosses from a couple of corn chuckers and bolo tossers.

Temperance Hope was born on Friday morning and weighted a certan number of almost 9 pounds. Her proud parents, Ginette and John, were visited on Saturday by a few of the old Pink 03 gang, at which time Sue took a bunch of pictures and dreamed of having a pretty little girl of her own.
