Vacation Begins

After, finishing up the school semester for Sue, a day of daycare for Ewan, and work for Christine and me, we packed for the resort and left on last last Thursday night around 11. We drove through the night and made it to Springfield, Mass. to pick up Aunt Mary on our way to the resort.

We spent Friday night at Aunt Mary’s and then headed to the Verkhovyna Ukrainian Festival at another Ukie resort in Glen Spey, NY. While the girls looked at the booths, Ewan and I watched the dancing and singing, and we played in the blow ups. Ewan was slightly frightened of the large blowups, especially when the big kids bounced him around and when he got stuck in a crack, but he enjoyed the one time he actually made it up the hill.

After a the day in the sun and a few wrong turns we finally made it to Soyuzivka on Saturday afternoon. We were disappointed to learn that the Zabava (Dance) was canceled on Saturday night, and so Sue was not able to wear her fun dress:(

Sunday we went to church. The girls went to the pool while we napped. After dinner Ewan and I went to the pool until we were chased out by some lightening.

So that was Fri, Sat, and Sun days and here are some pictures.

Planting and Softball

Long time no post. Well here goes…If you were following along with the Tweets and/or FB you already know we left for our annual trip to the Gunks and Soyuzivka…but I am getting ahead of myself…Here is a set from Grandpa Ron and Mary Ann’s visit on the Wednesday before we left. Grandpa and Ewan transplanted a bunch of hostas and other plants from Grandpa’s house. Wednesday night we had our last softball game of the season, and for the third game of the season, Ron played outfield for us.

Another weekend, another drive to the Northwest part of the state to see the family. After mowing the yard in the rain, we packed up and headed to Toledo, to my cousin Joey’s house for some BBQ, Beer, and ladder golf. Most of us headed to my cousin Sara’s house to see the Waterville Fireworks. The rest of the weekend we spent at my parents house; mucking the pond, going to Patriotic Church, and going to seeĀ WALL-E, Ewan’s first moovie in theĀ theater.

Crosby Weekend

A two weekends ago, we went for our annual trip up to the Toledo Botanical Gardens and the Crosby Art Fest. This year we knew one of the artists, my Dad. He is “retired” now and in his old age, in addition to building garages and what not, he is turning wood bowls and candle holders with my mom helping out with the finish work. We made a web sight for him at rayramsdell.com. Other photos in the set include Ewan watching a moovie on Cakey’s bed, and Ewan helping shobel with Grandpa.
